Hon, Sharad Pawar Golden Leadership of BCCI
Hon. Sharad Pawar took over as the President of BCCI on 1st December 2005.In less than a year, he has changed the face of BCCI. His love for the game and his visionary approach has resulted in several landmark achievements. His first goal was to bring about transparency in the Board and to professionalize working.









  • Under his leadership BCCI has made some outstanding achievements in the marketing of Indian Cricket. The revenue of the Board has increased several times thanks to a transparent bidding process.

  • Hon. Sharad Pawar extended the pension scheme to t he widows of past test cricketers for their lifetime.

  • Pension scheme was also introduced for Ranji Trophy cricketers and umpires.

  • It was his idea that cricket and BCCI must support other games. A corpus fund of Rs. 50.00 crores has been set up to support talented juniors who are the medal prospects in Olympic sports.

  • Under his leadership, BCCI took the historic decision to donate for charitable causes.

  • India and Pakistan played two games at Abudhabi and donated 7.5 million US Dollar to the quake affected in Pakistan and 2.5 million US Dollars to the earthquake affected people of India (Kashmir)

  • The match fees payable to domestic cricketers was increased by almost 4 times the usual amount.

  • Associations would get financial assistance of upto 25.00 crores.

  • He was the main person behind establishing the BCCI office (Headquarters) in Mumbai.

  • He is highly respected by cricketers of all generations.

  • Under his guidance, the ICC Championship Trophy was hosted successfully in India.

  • India has won the bids for the prestigious ICC-Worid - 2011 event.

  • He took the steps to bring womens cricket under BCCI.

  • He was the President of ACC from 1st January 2006 to 16th June 2006.
